Subject: Rango Keshavan the Miller of auds
Subject: Rango Keshavan the Miller of auds
now that CM has worked his magic on several of Rango's auds, people should notice that Mr. Keshavan's work deserves as much praise as the vaunted Mr. Miller. check out all of Rango's work. these auds are better than or equal to a matrix, full range of sound, plus he picks up the nuances that us boards lovers crave. you can always feel Phil, hear a string bend on an ibeneze or a travis bean, catch that lilt in the voice and not be over whelmed by the crowd. plus i am never left with my ears ringing from the crowd or too much treble. that is a big deal to someone that has titenitis (ringing of the ears)
Rango Keshavan is the Charlie Miller of auds!
as for this performance, and being at the Greek, if i could stand in front of the boys and see this very concert today, how could i not give it a five, and Rango transports you there.

Subject: Another fantastic audience
Subject: Another fantastic audience
This is a killer recording. Another fine example of the many, many high quality audience recordings available if you just keep on pokin'.
It's right up front and very well balanced. Drums and bass are all very tight, without the wash or boom-i-ness you hear in poorer recordings. These guys hit a sweet spot and Dr. Miller has contributed his expertise, which is always a good endorsement.
The show is not amazing, but does have some moments that are very good. The first set is pretty typical, except it's Billy's birthday, and Jerry plays him Tennessee Jed, which is probably the best offer before the break. The Bertha is up-tempo, and had potential, but it never quite came together.
The Shakedown is good, but not outrageous. Bobby is certainly making a great sound, and the scat should bring a smile. It was an obvious turn-on for those in attendance. I love the China Doll that comes out of Playin'. That could be an uneven song in the 80s, but this one is very good. Bobby hangs around for a few minutes into Drums, which is fun, but it's a short trip through Space. The return to Playin' is always something I enjoy, as you could count on it less and less in the 80s. Very fine Morning Dew. Very fine indeed. And Sugar Magnolia is also a keeper. The boys tear it up, and they've started listening to each other by this point.
Again, not a magnificent show in my opinion. But certainly worth a listen, especially at this level of sound quality.
I leave the rating to you.

Wonderful recording...I like it better than the Sennheiser>Sony PCM1. Pretty good performance, and Jerry forgets the lyrics to Shakedown.
